I'm researching the family of a Peter Eddleman in Rowan County, NC and though the details of my information differs somewhat from that sent by KDCimini there are enough similarities that I feel we could both be researching the same family. I'll give some of the details of the first three generations as I have them and let KD decide if we need to discuss this family further.

Most of this information is from a research paper written by Mary M. Ward about 1960 and was forwarded to me courtesy of Dr. Bill Eddleman when I first joined the list.. I haven't confirmed the accuracy of any of the details but hope to do so soon and to compile a descending genealogy on all of Peter's children.

Peter Eddleman was born Ca. 1716 in Erbach, Hesse, Germany. He arrived in Philadelphia about 1749, married Catharina Gehric in 1751 and settled in Northampton County (formally Bucks County) PA. They had three known children all born in PA. The family migrated to Rowan County, NC about 1768 and settled in the area of the Organ Lutheran Church.

1. Catharina Elizabeth Eddleman born on 13 May 1761. I have no further information on her.

2. John Eddleman married Kitty Bliss on 5 Jan 1789 in Rowan County. They had 7 known children: Catharina in 1791, John in 1793, Elizabeth in 1795, Adam in 1799, Joseph in 1804, Sophia in 1807 and Thomas in 1811. (The names of these children are from the IGI and I have no further information them).

3. Peter Eddleman Jr. married Catherine Earry on 31 Jan 1787 in Rowan County. They had 3 known children: 1. Philip born 19 Nov 1787 married Sarah (surname unknown) and died 7 Dec 1854. 2. Peter born about 1789 married Polly Linn on 17 Dec 1812. 3. Catherine born 17 Feb 1791 married John Casper on 20 Jan 1813 in Rowan County. Catherine Earry died shortly after the birth of the third child and Peter Eddleman Jr. married second Elizabeth Cruse about 1792. They had 6 known children: 1. Adam born in 1793 married Catherine Lippard on 8 May 1815 in Rowan County. This family migrated to Carroll and Attala Counties in MS (I have considerable information on several of their descendants). 2. Elizabeth born in 1797 married Jacob File on 13 Mar 1817. 3. Sarah born 4 Feb 1799 married Adam Goodman on 20 Sep 1816. 4. Suzannah born 9 Sep 1803 married Henry Ludwick (Luttrick). This family migrated to MS and eventually to Henderson County, TX (I have some information on their descendants). 5. Sophia born 29 Dec 1805 married Conrad Casper. 6. Henry born 5 Feb 1795 died young.

What is the source of your information about the birth and marriage? I have a lot of information on this family, and I had Catherine Gehrig as the wife, and had never found a marriage date. Other researchers had assumed old Peter was born in Germany, and this pre-dates any known Edelman/Eddleman immigration by 15 years. Rowan Co. deeds prove that there was at least one other son--John--who lived in Cabarrus Co., NC later.

Where did you find the birth date for John Peter? Organ Lutheran Church records and his estate settlement papers document his other children. Apparently Peter and Catharine had 3 children (Philip, Peter, and Catharine). Catharine died (Pastor Storch records list his preaching a funeral for Peter Eddleman's wife), and Peter remarried Elizabeth Kruse/Cruss. They had additional children.

Again, I had never found Philip's wife's surname. What is your source?

I am sure this message was submitted by William Rodney Eddleman, I guess I lost the signature line, it will be in the original INBOX, but I have not looked. Editor.

A Different unknown Peter Edelmann of Ober-Sensbach
WHE located records [in Germany] for another Peter Edelman in the marriage register of Ober-Sensbach, year 1717 page 145 " 1715, January 7, in the house of....? there was married by the priest after the usual public notice Hans Peter Edelmann, son of the late Hans Nicolaus Edelmann, inhabitant of Huettelthal with maid Eva Catherinea....?, legitimate daughter of the late Adam Schaeffler, inhabitant and miller of Ober-Sensbach. In documents there are mentioned the children of the above mentioned married couple: 1716, July 17, Tuesday night about 8 o'clock there was born to Hans Peter Edelmann, here by Eva Catharina, his wife, a little boy, who was baptised on the following day. 1717, Febr, 25, in the morning around 4 o'clock there was born a Rose Baerbel 1722, July 24, in the evening at 7 o'clock there was born a Hans Pete According to these documents according to a German researcher Dr. H.F. Weber from Darmstadt for William Eddleman "the family Hans Peter Edelmann must have lived without any doubt in Ober Sensbach. The head of the family should be identical with the Peter we are looking for. According to the marriage register from 1715, this Peter Edelmann will probably have come from Huettenthal and married into Ober-Sensbach. There are no more documents found, especially about the emigration of the family of Peter Edelmann from Ober-Sensbach to America"

Dr. Weber found mention of other Eddlemans
1. In Finkenbach near Rothenberg a certain Velten Edelman (1557)
2. In Schneppenhausen near Darmstadt: Adam, Peter and Wendel Edelman (1622) Michael     Edelman (1588 and 1640)
3. In Graefenhausen near Darmstadt-Anna Maria Edelman daughter of Velten Edelman (1640)

In 1958 Dr. Weber suggested that they look for my Peter Edelmann around Beerfelden.
As I may have mentioned, I have a good bit of German research information but much is disjointed, some has not been translated and all of it is difficult to understand.
