The goal of this workshop is to use shiplists:
This chart may need a different design as this project develops. Please suggest changes in EDDLEMAN-L. For example, an extra column, for listing each immigrant, might aid accounting for individuals who did not have produce surviving offspring. When this table reaches stable form, I plan to add links to other pages to help readers understand lineages and go to them easily. See symbols index below the table.
In this early stage of development, I may use a different format for some ships to discover the arrangement most useful for this web page. All these ships arrived at Philadelphia. Did any Eddleman arrive via Boston, New York, Baltimore, or southern ports? Europeans usually had to pay a fee to be released by their lord to travel to another state (manunission sp); such records and church records may show a person was going to America. Some disappeared without paying or tried to convince the lord they were a burden on his lordship and he would benefit getting rid of them without payment of mamusion--sion fee.

____ _____ paid manmisis at Zweirbtbruek
____
? = Uncertain or unknown
?? = Probably wrong
! = very certain
Notes on individuals or cell:
Notes are keyed by cell number which run by rows 0,1,2, ... and colums
A,B,C,D. Thus Note number 2Db refers to row 2, rightmost cell in that row
and the second entry in that cell. I may need to introduce another column
so col 4 = immigrant; col 5 = designation of clan; This would aid accounting
for immigrant who apparently produced no surviving line. This merely a
first attempt.
Data below this line will be discarded.

Another source I have on this family is Robert Addleman's book on the Addleman family. All the Addlemans in the U.S. apparently descend from Hans Michael Addleman or Daniel Addleman. It appears Daniel originally spelled his name Edelman and some evidence suggests he may be from the Phillip line (possibly a son). This family (Daniel) later moved to Virginia.

My ancestor Hanss David Edelmann left Rott, Alsace, in 1733 and arrived
in Philadelphia 1733 Sep 28 on the ship Richard and Elizabeth. For
information about this family in America see http://www.disknet.com/indiana_biolab/eg907.htm
I am seeking information on his parents. I am also interested in the farming
and other conditions of life in Rott and Steinseltz in 1733. I have been
told many people of 1733 in Rott might have come from France or Switzerland.
Does his name of Edelmann indicate where I should look for his parents?
In America, he attended Protestant churches. He was age 49 according to
the ship list which gives a calculated birthdate of 1684. I want to add
a page of details about Rott in 1733 and before. I can read some French
and German.
