James Thomas Eddleman

Biography written during 1999 by his nephew Harold Lee Eddleman

A gravestone in Milltown Cemetery reads: James T. Eddleman 1879 - 1903. If corect, he died at age 24. How did he have 4 childern? In my notebook I have him born 1876 which would be 12 years before my father Claude was born.

His Lineage: James Thomas Eddleman of Milltown <== Francis Marion Eddleman <= James Eddleman of Milltown <== John Eddleman near Georgetown IN <== CatherineKY1778

Notice that some of the folks writing below call him James F. Eddleman. I have forgotten where I got the JTE. I do not know which is correct.

born 1876 but I am not sure that is correct. I do not recall where I got it.Census maybe See Francis Marion Eddleman for the Census record of JTE as a child.

died: I am not sure but in Milltown Cemetery is the grave stone: "James T. Eddleman 1879 - 1903"

Marriage Unknown but Census might tell that. Did he die young and then wife took family to Iowa or someewhere?

Childern: I have not birth, marriage, or death info on any of James Thomas Eddleman's kids

I have little info on JTE, He was 12 years older than dad. Thus, JtE would have been about 17 when dad was old enough to remember him. I can remember playing with other older kids when I was 4 or 5 but I can't remember anything about them.

I don't recall Dad ever mentioning TJE. However, Jan's info and the grave being in Milltown suggests all of JTE's kids were born around Milltown. Therefore, My Dad should have known JTE's family. I was more interested in Dad's lineage and Now I find I do not know much about the older siblings.

Herschel Eddleman and Joe Eddleman Visit Indiana 1946 - 1949

I think first to come was Joe and he stayed about a week. The following summer the other came for about a week. When one of them was here, Dad was away during the day wiring a house or somthing. That meant they spend some time with us kids. Or they may have visited Kids of Francis Marion who lived around or in Marengo. Thus he may have visited Rosie, Sophie (Esther), Eschol, or Bertha; I have never heard anything about Mary (did she die young?)

We visited the old Eddleman place.

Of Francis Marion Eddleman kids only Isaac Chauncey (Chance), Francis Marion, James Thomas, and Claude had childern. (I do not know whether Shelby (Shep) had any childern.

Soon after the end of World War II an Eddleman relative come from the west by train and visited us for a few days. I think he had worked in copper mine in Arizona. -- Harold Eddleman

Yes, I think I meet Herschel, more later in morning, I have to work now. I am trying to work out that part of family and folks are not giving me any info. I should have written that up 40 years ago.

I do not have Bonnie's address. She is a nice lady. Hard worker. She and Jerry work in the logging business. Wish they were on the Internet. They live in cowboy country. Their little town doesn't have a stop light. They all rope and ride. Diane trains horses. Roger is a pumper for a gas company. Have I bored you to death yet? Diane does not know of the Eddleman's in Wyoming. Hershel lived in Washington. Hershel-------Birth: 16 Nov 1897 and SS said he died Apr 1967. Now you know as much as I do. Jan

Eddleman family (sgordon@mail.utexas.edu, 05/03/99 08:36) To: Indbio

Dear Harold,

I'm sorry I've been unable to add any information to your list of the Isaac Chancey Eddleman's descendants since I've last been in touch with you. I've been terribly busy and also traveling, but I hope later in May and June I'll have more time. You mention James Eddleman, also Claude's brother, in your e-mail. I don't know if you know this, but my family history is complicated by the fact that my grandfather, Chancey, first married Kittie Davis, who died in Indiana and is buried in Hardinsburg, I believe. Later Chancey married James's widow, Mary Eddleman. I don't know how James died, but until recently the fact that Isaac married his brother's widow, has always been a source of great confusion to me.

Also, you mention again the book on Indiana which presumably we have here in our library at UT. I'll try to get to the library next week - after the semester ends, and see if I can find it.

Best wishes, Sally
