Dear Harold,

My name is Sally (Eddleman) Gordon and I have just begun doing some research on my father's side of the family

My grandfather's name was Isaac Chancey Eddleman (b. Nov. 9, 1870 in Milltown, Indiana, d. Jan. 5, 1955 in Columbia, Iowa). His parents' names were Marion and Lavina, according to my Aunt Dorothy (Eddleman) Witt.

According to my aunt, he had at least two brothers, Claude of Marengo, Indiana and Shelby of Vandalia, Illinois.Isaac lived in Hardinsburg, Indiana for some time then moved to Iowa (not sure of the date) and remarried.

I have written to Joe Eddleman, who has no further information on the Eddleman families of Indiana and I've written to Glenn Ray Eddleman, but not heard back from him.

Isaac Chancey Eddleman had five children by his first wife: Audrey, Frank, Floyd, Frederick, and Dorothy. My father was Fred; Dorothy is the only living sibling.

Dear Harold,

Again, if you have any clues for me, please write. As I said, on the Eddleman side of my family I only have one aunt left (and 3 cousins), and this is all the information my aunt could provide for me.

Thanks so much, Sally Gordon

Dear Harold,

I can also provide for you more complete information about Isaac Chancey Eddleman, his wife, children, etc. when I get the time. I know I have birth and death dates, and locations of all living descendants.

I have two older brothers - the eldest, Ted, has three children, one grandchild, and my next brother, Terry, has four children. They are all living in Iowa and Missouri. I'll get this recent info for your soon.

Best wishes, Sally

Dear Harold,

I'm sorry I've been unable to add any information to your list of the Isaac Chancey Eddleman's descendants since I've last been in touch with you. I've been terribly busy and also traveling, but I hope later in May and June I'll have more time. You mention James Eddleman, also Claude's brother, in your e-mail. I don't know if you know this, but my family history is complicated by the fact that my grandfather, Chancey, first married Kittie Davis, who died in Indiana and is buried in Hardinsburg, I believe. Later Chancey married James's widow, Mary Eddleman. I don't know how James died, but until recently the fact that Isaac married his brother's widow, has always been a source of great confusion to me.

Also, you mention again the book on Indiana which presumably we have here in our library at UT. I'll try to get to the library next week - after the semester ends, and see if I can find it.

Best wishes, Sally
