William Edelman of Lovettsville, VA

Can he be a brother of Daniel Addleman? of David Eddleman?

Robert Paul Addleman found William Edelman living about 1772 - 1810 near Lovettsville, Loudoun County, Virginia. No vital data are known (no birth, parents, siblings, or marriage records known). Since Daniel Addleman was living at the same town, Robert Addleman wondered whether William Edelman and Daniel Addleman might be relatives--even brothers.

The only child Robert P. Addleman found for William was Catherine born 1774 Oct 5 at Lovettsville. She died 1855 April 15 in Westmoreland County, PA. She married George Uncapher who was born 1772 Oct 8 at Lovettsville. He died 1834 March 12 at Saltsburg, PA. [The American Addlemans, page 38. Also see Mary Lois Smith (Marion, Ohio) 1950 query in Your Family Tree. No other data supports William as the father of Catherine who married George Uncapher. Also see Gaylord Smith's comment below.]

Dr. Robert Paul Addleman suggested William Edelman of Lovettsville might be the oldest son of Filb Jakob Edelmann. If William is a son of Filb, it is puzzling that William was not involved in the many land transfers of 1760 - 63 in Maryland.

While his The American Addlemans book is out of print, Robert Addleman is placing much of the text from it online at: http://members.aol.com/bobadleman/ . This site contains information about the descendants of Hans Michael Adelmann of Wertheim County Germany. The index page for his Daniel Addleman data is http://members.aol.com/danaddleman/index.html . This Daniel may be the son of Filb Jakob Edelmann of Rott, Alsace.

Research during April 1998 by William Rodney (Bill) Eddleman in the Maryland Archives in Annapolis, MD, seem to be consistent with Daniel Addleman (later VA) and David Eddleman (later NC) being the sons of Filb Jakob Edelmann. The close association of Philip Baker with Daniel, David, and Phillip (Filb) suggest Philip Baker may have married a daughter of Filb Edelman.

Gaylord Griffiths (Wescosville, PA) believes the Catherine who married George Uncapher may be the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Addleman. [The American Addlemans].

Frank G. Shoupe discovered about 1990 that Daniel Addleman migrated from Loudoun County, VA to southwestern PA (Derry Township, Westmoreland County) about 1787. [The American Addlemans].
