Brenda already has a home page on this family at http://members.aol.com/behr813/peter.html which gives some info not on this page. She and Leo Eddleman may have used some of the same documents.
Doctor Henry Leo Eddleman sent this document to Dr. Harold Lee Eddleman 1978 Oct 6. Henry Leo Eddlman was President of several Baptist colleges. From this this we get Peter Eddleman,Sr, of Erbach, Deutschland married Catheria Gehrig and
The below is verbatim from the xerox copies supplied as above. Some pages are missing as Henry Leo Eddleman only sent pages lising Eddleman Geneology. So far I have entered only a small part of what Henry Leo sent me.

Dear ??; you name did not come thru
Thanks for your letter, your family would be one I had not heard of
before. While I think my ancestor lived at Abotts Creek, south of Salem
from about 1765 to 1776, I have no proof this Edelmann was my my
ancestor and I know very little about North Carolina Eddleman and hope
we can get some of them written up in th future. In fact, When you say
your ancestor was born in PA about 1715, that would be before anyone in
the discussion group has mentioned any Edelmann being in the USA.

Dear Joe and EDL
When you wrote last fall about General Eddleman, I forgot that William
R. Eddleman of Dallas had written me in 1978 as follows"
"I have corresponded with a General Clyde Eddleman. We are unable to
establish a definite relationship. He is of the opinion that our common
ancestors came from a portion of German near Munich. The evidence seems
to be that his European ancestor came directly to Mississippi or Alabama
rather than coming the route of the group in my family. I have hundreds
of pages of German Genealogy. The real problem comes after you get into
the United States in relating thse things."
Bill, I guess I should type some or all of Wm's letters into EGL becaue
He has one single spaced page on efforts to trace childern of Boston

Rev War ancestor went to visit and we have a copy of a bill of sale that
my ancestor bought a horse in Cape Oiraqd?n(or u) in 1817. That other
was named Daniel and he was in Washington Couty in Arkansin 1830 Census

Well, I told you I was new at this, and I just proved it. I forgot to mention
that there is a BIG question mark (?) after Pennsylvania for Peter Eddleman's
birth place. This is information I received from another Eddleman researcher
and has not been independantly verified by myself. If no one has Eddleman's
in the United States at this time, I would venture to guess that the person
who gave me the information was incorrect, and that I was correct in putting
in a question mark!

Dear Jim
This exactly the kind of research report we want for Eddleman
Geneaology Library. We are all grateful to you for the many Edelmann
reports you have been able to provide.
I think I read somewhere, prob in the William H Eddleman collection
that some of Donna's info was wrong. I am thinking WHE wrote Dr. Weber
that WHE went to Philadelphia and perhaps Annapolis and found that
Donna's source had an error. I will try to dig this info out in a few
days--I am working 12 days on getting sweetpotatoes ready for cold
weather now.

I'm researching the family of a Peter Eddleman in Rowan County, NC and
though the details of my information differs somewhat from that sent by
KDCimini there are enough similarities that I feel we could both be
researching the same family. I'll give some of the details of the first
three generations as I have them and let KD decide if we need to discuss
this family further.
Most of this information is from a research paper written by Mary M.
Ward about 1960 and was forwarded to me courtesy of Dr. Bill Eddleman
when I first joined the list.. I haven't confirmed the accuracy of any
of the details but hope to do so soon and to compile a descending
genealogy on all of Peter's children.
Peter Eddleman was born Ca. 1716 in Erbach, Hesse, Germany. He arrived
in Philadelphia about 1749, married Catharina Gehric in 1751 and settled
in Northampton County (formally Bucks County) PA. They had three known
children all born in PA.
The family migrated to Rowan County, NC about 1768 and settled in the
area of the Organ Lutheran Church.
1. Catharina Elizabeth Eddleman born on 13 May 1761. I have no further
information on her.
2. John Eddleman married Kitty Bliss on 5 Jan 1789 in Rowan County. They
had 7 known children: Catharina in 1791, John in 1793, Elizabeth in
1795, Adam in 1799, Joseph in 1804, Sophia in 1807 and Thomas in 1811.
(The names of these children are from the IGI and I have no further
information them).
3. Peter Eddleman Jr. married Catherine Earry on 31 Jan 1787 in Rowan
County. They had 3 known children: 1. Philip born 19 Nov 1787 married
Sarah (surname unknown) and died 7 Dec 1854. 2. Peter born about 1789
married Polly Linn on 17 Dec 1812. 3. Catherine born 17 Feb 1791 married
John Casper on 20 Jan 1813 in Rowan County. Catherine Earry died shortly
after the birth of the third child and Peter Eddleman Jr. married second
Elizabeth Cruse about 1792. They had 6 known children: 1. Adam born in
1793 married Catherine Lippard on 8 May 1815 in Rowan County. This
family migrated to Carroll and Attala Counties in MS (I have
considerable information on several of their descendants). 2. Elizabeth
born in 1797 married Jacob File on 13 Mar 1817. 3. Sarah born 4 Feb
1799 married Adam Goodman on 20 Sep 1816. 4. Suzannah born 9 Sep 1803
married Henry Ludwick (Luttrick). This family migrated to MS and
eventually to Henderson County, TX (I have some information on their
descendants). 5. Sophia born 29 Dec 1805 married Conrad Casper. 6.
Henry born 5 Feb 1795 died young.

Harold,
I have the receipt, through a round-about way. It was from Cape Girardeau.
I don't have any proof, however, that Peter was here to visit Daniel. Two
of his sisters married Stroup men, and at least one of these men ended up
here, so I have wondered if he was visiting his brother-in-law and family.
The Stroup marriages are in Lincoln Co. marriage bonds (I have copies). The
Seiffert/Sifford marriage is mentioned in Peter's Rev. War pension
application, where Leonard is listed as a brother-in-law.
This Daniel has been a mystery. I have corresponded with a couple of his
descendants. He first appears in eastern Tennessee (Fentress Co., as I
recall). His birth state on later censuses is listed as NC, and the only
likely candidates for his father would be Jacob (son of Peter of
Airlenbach/Surry) or Bastian (the younger, if there was an older!). Bastian
might be likely, because he also appears by 1820 in east TN (Jackson Co.).
Many Jackson Co. records were destroyed in a fire, so this trace might be
difficult. Daniel later appears in Arkansas as you state. Later, he went
with one of his sons in a wagon train to central California, where he died.
The General's mention of Miss. and Ala. suggests he may descend from Peter
of Rowan, although this would need more work. Peter's son Peter had a son
Adam who went to Miss. Some of my line through David Eddleman of Lincoln
Co. also ended up in Ala.

What is the source of your information about the birth and marriage? I have
a lot of information on this family, and I had Catherine Gehrig as the wife,
and had never found a marriage date. Other researchers had assumed old
Peter was born in Germany, and this pre-dates any known Edelman/Eddleman
immigration by 15 years. Rowan Co. deeds prove that there was at least one
other son--John--who lived in Cabarrus Co., NC later.

Where did you find the birth date for John Peter? Organ Lutheran Church
records and his estate settlement papers document his other children.
Apparently Peter and Catharine had 3 children (Philip, Peter, and
Catharine). Catharine died (Pastor Storch records list his preaching a
funeral for Peter Eddleman's wife), and Peter remarried Elizabeth
Kruse/Cruss. They had additional children.

Dear Harold,
First of all, I would like to thank you for responding to my e-mail regarding
the EDDLEMANS.
I did see your web page 610, most of the information is the same that I have
collected, which is why I wrote to you. I'm afraid I do not have much more
information than you on Peter EDDLEMAN, SR. who was born in 1716 in Erbach,
Germany.
Most of my information has been gathered from a copy of Our Eddleman Stroy by
Mary Margaret Ward, sent to me by her son, Silas D. McCaslin and also by
Rachel Eddleman in CA. I have searched census records, IGI and the books The
Schoolhouse Near The Old Spring, Marriage Records of NC, Pennsylvania German
Pioneers,The EDDLEMAN REFERENCES FROM THE MCCUBBINS COLLECTION and more.
>From the sources mentioned above, I found that Peter EDDLEMAN, SR. was born in
Erbach, Germany, died 1795 in Rowan County, NC. He married Catharina GEHRIG
and had the following children: Catharina Elizabeth b 13 May 1761, Peter, Jr.
b 1763, John b 1765, Phillip, Reiner, Adam, Jacob, Mariah, Christina and
Juliana. However, the only children of Peter, Sr. and Catharina Gehrig that
has had any information found are Catharina Elizabeth, Peter, Jr., John and
Phillip. No further information has been found on the other children listed
above, therefore, can not be sure that they were children of Peter, Sr. and
Catharina Gehrig.
John EDDLEMAN, son of Peter EDDLEMAN, SR. and Catharina GEHRIG, moved to
southern IL around 1820 with this sons, Joseph, Adam and Peter. A will was

A will was
found in Union Co., IL for John dated 1827. John is said to be buried in the
German Reform Cemetery at Wetaug, IL, but no stone has been found. His son
Adam is buried there along with his wife Elizabeth. Adam's stone has dates
1795-1852 on it.
I am a descendant of Adam EDDLEMAN.
